Students from the University of Wroclaw (Poland) and St. Petersburg State University to continue their joint practice in St.Petersburg

From 27th of October to 1st of November Institute of Earth Sciences SPbSU hosted a group of students from the University of Wroclaw (Poland). The visit took place in the framework of the student exchange program «Transformation of Urban Space in Wroclaw and St. Petersburg: a comparative assessment».

During the project students met the Deputy Director of the House of the architect in St. Petersburg Mikhail Zhukov, who gave them an overview on the architectural styles of St. Petersburg and briefed the guests with the history of Polovtsev’s mansion.

PhD student of the department of regional policy and political geography Dmitry Komendenko organized seminar for students on the redevelopment in St. Petersburg, which included training and fieldwork: students independently evaluated the current state of the internal industrial belt of St. Petersburg.

One of the days in the Northern capital was dedicated to the redevelopment of the area near the the Warshavsky railway station. Each training project proceeded from the given budget. It was rather difficult for students, but allowed them to learn how to plan territorial development  having a limited amount of financial resources.

Summing up the results of the project, the participants expressed their hope that the cooperation between the Institute of Earth Sciences SPbSU and Wroclaw University in scientific and educational spheres will continue in the future.
